1. What is a mixtape?
A mixtape is a mix of promotional songs released by an artist to promote their upcoming retail CD release. Sometimes an artist releases a mixtape on their own, and sometimes they submit their new songs to mixtape DJ's or radio stations, who compile a mix of new songs from various artists and release it as a mixtape. The main purpose is to gain popularity and encourage listeners to go and buy music in stores and to go see their favorite artists in local concerts.

5. Is it legal to download and listen to mixtapes?
Our mixtapes come from the artists themselves and the DJs who mix them, and are released for promotional use only. It's the artists way of getting themselves heard to labels, and/or to generate a buzz before a retail album is released in stores. We do not charge for any mixtapes on this site. They are free to members. The fee for membership is simply to cover bandwidth and other administrative costs used to deliver the mixtape download to our members..
